Ayurvedic oil massage

Experience suggests that people react to different types of sensory signals in different ways. So, for some, sound has a particularly strong effect, so these people are most susceptible to such medical methods that affect the hearing, for example, music therapy. People who have a strong sense of touch are more susceptible to Ayurvedic techniques such as oil massage or marma therapy, a traditional Ayurvedic method that stimulates vital points located on the surface of the skin. As you include the recommendations of this chapter in your daily routine, include them in your schedule, and you can refuse the others that seem least effective to you.

HOW TO MAKE AYURVEDA OIL MASSAGE

1. First, use cold pressed sesame (sesame) oil. It would be ideal to heat the oil first (heat treatment instructions are given below). Every day, before massage, oil should be heated. To make it easier to do, store it in a small plastic bottle with a hinged lid. To warm up, place the bottle for several minutes in a container of hot water.
2. Massage your body with your whole palm, not just your fingertips. To massage the rounded parts of the body (joints, head), use circular movements, and massage straight sections (neck, long bones) with longitudinal movements. On most parts of the body, apply moderate pressure, and massage the areas of the abdomen and heart with light pressure.
3. Start the massage with the head. Pour a small amount of oil onto your hands and rub it vigorously into the scalp, making circular movements with your palms. The head should be massaged longer than the rest of the body.
4. Next, proceed to massage the face and ears, do not forget to apply a new portion of oil when moving from one part of the body to another. Massage the indicated areas more gently.
5. Massage the front and back of the neck, as well as the upper spine. At this time, a thin layer of oil can be applied to the rest of the body so that it can absorb well into the skin.
6. Perform an energetic hand massage. Treat the shoulders and elbows in a circular motion, and massage the shoulders and forearms with long movements back and forth.
7. Then proceed to massage the chest and abdomen. In the area of the heart and abdomen, use very gentle circular movements. Massage the abdomen can begin with its right lower surface and move clockwise to the lower left, which has a gentle stimulating effect on the intestines.
8. Massage your back and spine. Do not worry if you are unable to get to some parts of the back.
9. Perform an energetic foot massage. Hip, knee and ankle joints are massaged in a circular motion, and thighs and calves – in long, longitudinal movements.
10. Finally, massage the soles of the feet. Like the head, this important area of the body deserves a longer massage. Do an energetic palm massage.
11. After completing the oil massage procedure, take a warm bath or shower.

HOW TO PREPARE SESAMOUS (SESAME) OIL

Ayurveda recommends using untreated, cold pressed sesame oil. Before using, the oil must be subjected to heat treatment by following the simple steps described below. Heat treatment promotes deeper penetration of oil into the skin.

1. Heat the oil to approximately the boiling point of water (100 ° C). Before putting oil on fire, add a little water to it. When the water begins to crackle and bubble over the oil, this means that the oil has warmed enough and needs to be removed from the fire. If you did not add water, just watch how the oil heats up. When it begins to move in the pan, remove from the stove.
2. If you wish, you can prepare at one time this way: up to 1 liter of oil. This is enough for at least two weeks.
3. Since all oils are flammable, be sure to follow the proper precautions. Cook the oil on a slow rather than rapid fire; while the oil is warming do not leave it unattended; when the oil reaches the desired temperature, immediately remove it from the heat. Ensure that the oil is kept in a safe place during cooling, where children cannot reach it.
